Beginning December 2006

Our federal regulatory agency, the National Credit Union Administration, is requiring federally insured credit unions to establish more secure procedures for members to access their accounts online. This requirement is a result of the fraudulent phishing and pharming techniques that lead you to believe that you are logging into the credit union's website, but instead, you are logging into a false website designed to trick you into disclosing your password and/or private and personal information. To comply with this new rule, we are introducing changes to the way you access your account information.

Beginning December 1, 2006 a message will be shown to all HFS users requesting them to either enroll now or later in the new enhanced HFS security features. Although this enrollment is optional from December 5 through 27, you will be required starting December 28th to use the new security features to gain access to your account.

Essentially, you will continue to use your existing account number and password. However, with the new security system, you will have to answer one of three challenge questions before you have the opportunity to key in your password. A security image and personal phrase will also display to assure you that you are on the correct web site. We encourage you to take a few minutes and view the tutorial at the Login screen. These features are very important and very necessary to assure you that you are in the Credit Union's website when initiating transactions to your accounts.

If you have any problems establishing these procedures, please let us know. We thank you for your patience and understanding. Hopefully you will take comfort in knowing that your Credit Union is actively working toward making your online experience safe and pleasant as possible.
