The Credit Union issues checks on itself whenever a member withdraws funds from a deposit account or obtains a loan advance. Should you need funds from your share, share draft or other deposit account, you can obtain funds via Credit Union check. We definitely recommend a check withdrawal for larger sums of money. Further, you do not have to come inside the Credit Union for a check withdrawal. A telephone call will get a check in the mail that same day. Credit Union checks are not issued as a substitute for a share draft account. Usually the check is made payable to the member only. Unlike a Money Order, it is completely filled out by Credit Union personnel before handing to the member. A $1 per check charge will be assessed if checks are used for bill paying purposes. Should the check become lost, a stop payment can be placed and the check reissued (provided it hasn't cleared). However, a stop payment is very costly ($20.00), so we recommend that this type of check be issued sparingly. |
