ACH (Automated Clearing House), also known as EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer), is used to transfer money to or from your Credit Union account and another organization. It it used primarily for "repetitive" transactions, such as payroll deposits, and monthly bills or loan payments. There is no charge for this service.
ACH/EFT is initiated by the member. Most companies (for automatic payroll deposits) require only a voided share draft or deposit ticket. At the bottom of the draft/ticket are two sets of numbers:
The Credit Union's routing number 261388503 (9 digits); and
If funds are to be deposited into savings (shares), the member's basic account number is used instead of the share draft account number.
For Social Security monthly deposits, a Direct Deposit form must be completed and sent to the proper federal agency.
The member must state which account type the funds will be deposited into: savings (share) or checking (draft). Most members have the funds deposited into checking or draft account to avoid having to transfer funds later.
ACH/EFT can begin just as soon as the originating company or institution is ready. Just be sure to get a clear understanding of what day of the month the transaction will take place. The Credit Union does NOT send a receipt of the transaction!
