Often referred to as a "check card," the Visa Debit Card offers our members access to their draft and share accounts 24-hours a day. Whether it's cash from an ATM or payment to a merchant for goods and services, the Visa Debit Card is good where ever the Visa logo is displayed. Keep in mind that this is NOT a credit card. You must have sufficient funds on deposit in your share or draft accounts to be able to use this card.

Certain special features are:
  1. You must be a member in good standing.
  2. You must have a Share Draft Account.
  3. The maximum amount for purchases in a 24-hour period is $1,500. (This amount includes any ATM withdrawals.)
  4. The maximum amount of ATM withdrawals in a 24-hour period is $500. (If purchases have exceeded $1,000 during this same period, the $500 available withdrawal amount will be reduced by those purchase amounts.)
  5. You may make an unlimited number of purchase transactions without a fee.
  6. Each month, if you exceed five (5) withdrawals from an ATM, each additional cash withdrawal will incur a charge of $0.75. This charge is in addition to any fee that may be charged by the ATM owner.

All transactions are "batch processed" meaning that they do not process against your account immediately. Some transactions may take five or more days to finish the processing cycle. Please keep this delay in mind, especially toward the end of the month, since transactions may spill over into the next month. Please note: do NOT always count on the balance as shown when making an inquiry at an ATM. For the reason already listed, this balance may not be the actual balance (since outstanding drafts, ACH and ATM items may be posted to your account at anytime). You may incur a $2 transfer fee or a $20 per item NSF fee if you overdraw your draft account balance.

All Visa Debit Cards are processed by an outside vendor. They are mailed directly to the member or to the Credit Union, depending on the member's wishes. Three days after the card is mailed, the PIN envelope (containing the personal identification number) is mailed. The PIN is required for ATM withdrawals, however, it is not necessary for purchase transactions. The PIN is not selectable. It is assigned by computer. Credit Union staff never has access to the PIN.

Should the card or PIN become lost or stolen, notify the Credit Union at once (423) 648-3413 or, after hours, call 800-554-8969.
